David Belle, founder of parkour was in town today for a live, outdoor interview with Alec Wilkinson of The New Yorker and of course, a demonstration of his sport. It was a pretty good turnout at Jacob Javits Plaza. I got there about 20 minutes before the event and it was already packed. I was able to get a standup spot in the front and off to the side, but still saw most of the action. The demo itself was amazing. Traceurs from all over were part of it. I saw representatives from The Tribe and APK. David Belle scaled the 20+ ft free-standing walls three times and hopped across some of them as easily as a normal person would walk across a street. And this was all live... no cuts, no special equipment or stunt doubles. If he messed up, his career would've ended today. Even more amazing, this guy practices parkour on a daily basis and has never broken a bone! Belle also didn't break a sweat after his demo!Related Links: APK, David Belle, District B13, No Obstacles, Parkour (definition)
