Sharapova vs. Kvitova (Part 1)

Maria Sharapova came into this match on one of her best majors runs, although a little unconventional. She has not dropped a set yet even though her game has been riddle with her usual double-faults. Her defense has been phenomenal though, breaking over 60% of the time. If you break 60%, you'll likely win matches! At the start of the first set, Maria won the coin toss and opted to receive instead of serve and it played into her favor in the first game. Kvitova broke Maria back right away and then took the lead in her next serve. Maria got into trouble with her double-faults and Kvitova was able to finish the long rallies.

Maria last won this tournament when she was a teenager and defeated Serena Williams in 2006. Now the role might have been reversed if Kvitova can complete the upset. Let's see if Maria can get it together!
